Wang Chao (b.1986) graduated in 2013 from Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts in Chinese Painting (M.A.) and currently teaching at Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts.

Wang Chao is one of the most important artists in experimental ink washing painting. As a young artist, Wang Chao’s artistic practice is pure yet explorative, unafraid of combining ink wash painting with performance, happening art, abstract expression and installation. His work initiates from the fundamental units in Chinese ink wash painting of "one thought" and "one stroke", from which he traverses between abstract and figurative forms, generating a universe of infinite brushworks and undulating thoughts.

Recently, Wang Chao has held solo exhibitions including "Unveiled Bright", Quantum Gallery, Shanghai, 2019; "Transition: Wang Chao's exhibition", OCAT XI'AN , Xi'An, 2017; "Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World", Banana Art Space, Nanjing, 2017; "In a breath : Wang Chao's exhibition",Art Museum of Nanjing University of the Arts, Nanjing, 2016.
