Quantum Gallery invites members of the SCôP Young Patron Program (YPP) to participate in the opening ceremony the exhibition “Concealed Light” and “Unveiled Bright”.
In this event, Quantum Gallery invited Zheng Wen (exhibition curators and art critique, deputy curator of AMUNA), artist Wang Chao and Sun Datang, Song Zhenxi (curator, art critic, executive curator of Ni Art Museum), and Yang Xi (independent curator, OCAT Xi'an corner project planner) to the meeting, and conduct an in-depth discussion of the internal process and regeneration issues of contemporary experimental ink painting and photography.
In addition, during the opening ceremony, artist Wang Chao performed a live performance “A Disappearing Stroke”. The artist painted continuously on a piece of “water-writing cloth” for up to ten minutes. The original blank cloth was gradually filled with ink in the form of "one stroke, one thought", and then gradually faded over time and eventually disappeared, echoing with the meaning of the exhibition title “Unveiled Bright”. Artist Sun Datang made an experimental photo using the “concealed light” of the digital layer. Based on a group photo of the YPP members on site, he created a brand-new "invisible" series of works to show the hidden “promoters” behind the artistic process.
