ARTIST

Yang Jinsong (b.1955, China) graduated from Department of Printmaking of Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (M.A) in 1988. Professor and doctoral supervisor at China Academy of Art; Vice Director of Committee of Mixed-media Artworks and Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Art of China Artists Association; Director of Comprehensive Art Committee of Zhejiang Artists Association.

Yang Jinsong is an artist who attaches greater value to the process than the outcome. For him, the process is not merely creativity, but also the in-depth thinking and continuous overturning. This seems to prove that Yang Jinsong has the instinct of a behavioral artist. “Works” for him are merely an appropriate outcome of his actions. To be more precise, “works” are the traces of actions as experiences are transformed into forms and materials, thinking of objects is transformed into the object itself that enters the work and the composition of the work changes its properties so that the object is no longer a material object as it is, but a ferry of thoughts to the other side of things.

Important solo exhibition of Yang Jinsong including: "Freedom of Painting", Jinan Art Museum (Jinan, China, 2016); "Impermanence is the Norm", Meilun Art Museum (Changsha, China, 2014); "Poetic World of Ink: Spiritual Enlightenment", T Art Center (Hangzhou, China, 2013); Cheepomt Charlin Museum (Berlin, Germany, 1995); Kunstler Art Museum (Berlin, Germany, 1994); Sydney Art Museum (Sydney, Australia, 1992), etc. His works are currently collected by established domestic and foreign institutions such as Kochi Museum of Art (Japan), Shanghai Art Museum (China), Cheepomt Charlin Museum (Germany), China Art Palace (China), Guangdong Museum of Art (China), IACM Macau Museum of Art (Macau) and etc.
